Hello in Mandarin… I’ve learned a lot… haha.  Today was my second Mandarin class.  James and I are both taking beginning Mandarin classes but separately.  He does Mon and Wed in Pudong and Sat near us.  I do M-W-F 2:30 - 4:00.  We’re using Berlitz because that’s what Citigroup covers but once these are done, I’ll probably just get a local teacher as some friends here have recommended.  So far, I’ve learned how to say, “This is a pen, a book, a newspaper, a magazine, a table, a chair, etc.” I’ve also learned colors, numbers, time and dates.  We’re taking baby steps now but I’m really eager to get going. It sucks to have everyone speak to me in Chinese for me to only reply in English “I don’t speak Chinese”.  Once we’ve got a schedule going, I’m going to try to either extend my classes or go everyday.  I told my teacher, Li Fang, that I need to learn how to give directions, buy things and talk to my ayi.  So that’s what we’re going to focus on next.  I’m excited.  Li Fang says my pronounciation is pretty good so I’m encouraged but I have a long way to go.  I have to keep ahead of Samantha…
